Sinners blew me away. Ryan Coogler has always been great, but this is the first time in a while we’ve gotten an original project from him, and it shows. The movie feels like a slow-burn period piece for the first hour before it takes a hard turn into horror territory. Michael B. Jordan playing the Smoke/ Stack Twins is incredible, and Ludwig Göransson’s score is next-level. I seriously think Coogler and Göransson could be this generation’s Spielberg and John Williams. That’s how well they work together. It’s easily one of my favorite films of the year.
